Monday August 14th 2006 Here are the Scouts' diaries for days 9-18

James Daley - 12th Hackney - Day Nine
This morning we woke up a little late and we had a bit of a slow day, we went to the internet place which is in a hotel and then all three groups went down to the "Boy Scouts of America" shop which was quite good because it was so big and had loads of different things for all ages, like craft stuff for cubs and knives for explorers. Afterwards, we went shopping at a really great shopping centre, I bought myself a white Ecko hat. When we got back from shopping, we had our dinner, went swimming in our pool and then watched a movie. It was a good day.

N'Dianko Abdull- 7th Stoke Newington - Day Ten
We went to Epcot today, I thought all the rides where rubbish, but when it rained we had tonnes of fun!

Siobhán O'Brien - 29th Hackney - Day Eleven
Went out to the big shopping centre, bought some cheap, but very nice Levi's. Finally got the Epcot pin for my collection. In the morning, some of the 12th came over. We now have a little sketch of Derrick, Kris and Erhan and their reaction to Steven cutting his head. Erhan had a really dramatic reaction of what had happened. Hannah played Erhan, Fran played Derrick and Louise was Kris. I played Jayce.

Ollie Whitsed Robbins - 12th Hackney - Day Twelve
Today we went to the Rock Church as part of our 'My Faith' badge. We were looking at other ways of worship. It was a really interesting experience, very different to a normal church in England. It was set in a large concert hall, with loud speakers and disco lights. It was led by five men and women who sang and dance to rock music. I've never seen anything like it before. The crowd were encouraged go to the front and dance. One or two people were really overwhelmed and collapsed! What an amazing experience. "Amen, Amen, Amen we are one, in love, oh yes"!

James Baird Hutchinson - 7th Stoke Newington - Day Thirteen
MGM Studio's, Disney World" the sign said and I knew it was going to be a good day. The best rides were the Aerosmith ride, which was an inside rollercoaster that went from 0-60 mph in 3 seconds, and The Tower of Terror, which made my gut reach my mouth. After MGM we went to meet the "Boy Scouts of America" for the first time and it was pretty good. A lot of people swapped their uniforms for the BSA uniform, I was going to swap mine but there were no more scouts that wanted to swap, so I'm going to swap mine next week!

Francesca Kelloway - 29th Hackney - Day Fourteen
Today we went to Wet 'n' Wild. I thought it was the best place we went to yet! There were loads of different water rides there. I thought the best one was the Rocket - at first I was really scared but Hannah made me go on it and I realised it was really good. However, at the end I got a big 'Wedgie'! When we got back home we had a pool competition and James won.

Melisa Ozkan - 12th Hackney - Day Fifteen
Today I was so excited, because we were going to The Magic Kingdom! It's every young girl's dream to go to The Magic Kingdom and meet Minnie, Mickey and all the other Disney characters. We stayed until the end of the day to watch the Light Parade and the fireworks. It was really cool to watch and the fireworks lit up the sky. The other Scouts took my camera for a joke during the day and I was really scared that I had lost it! I videoed the day and night time parades, they were really magical. Joanne was so excited that she cried. On the way back home we stopped at McDonald's, it was the first time we actually went to McDonalds since we've been here. Afterwards we went home and went to bed, it was really late. I was so happy, my dream had come true.

Joshua Frisby - 14th Hackney - Day Sixteen
Today we woke up at 8am. We left for Busch Gardens, which is in Tampa, on a coach. The coach had a TV and we watched Looney Tunes. It took ages to get there. When we got there we went straight onto a wooden rollercoaster. Then we went on a new one, it was really scary - called Sheikra. We also went on a cable car and saw lots of animals like tigers, buffalo, deer and ostriches. As it carried on we saw hippos and lemurs, then we saw hyenas, lions, giraffes, zebras and loads of birds. We went on more roller coasters. We went home and had our dinner, it was really nice. Then I went to bed.

Gary Base - 14th Hackney - Day Seventeen
We woke up at about 8.30am today because we were going to NASA - The Kennedy Space Centre. We sorted ourselves out and wandered round to Mike's house and then drove to Derrick's house. When we got there we had to wait a few minutes because not everyone was ready. We then set off to NASA. It was a about a two hour drive to NASA. We spent the entire day at NASA, in fact we were there so long that they had to wait for us to go before they could close! It was a good day and the best thing was the G-Force ride, but I didn't get a chance to go on it. After NASA, we went off to Daytona Beach, which was another long drive, about an hour and a half! We didn't stay there long as we were going off to Kissimmee Old Town for the evening. The water was really cold, and after a quick paddle we went off home. When we got home, we got dressed up to go out. We met Derrick and James at McDonalds. We spent the evening at Kissimmee and finally got back home at about 2.30am! A great evening out.

Ola Adesina - 12th Hackney - Day Eighteen
Today we went to St Petersburgh Beach, near Tampa. It was the first time that we had spent a day on a proper beach. The water was really warm and very salty. The water really stung my eyes. After a while we had our lunch just off the beach so that we didn't get sand in our sandwiches. After lunch we went back into the water for a little longer and some of the boys built a big sandcastle and Kris buried me in sand! Finally we had to go home because we had planned to go to Kissimmee Old Town in the evening, which is a really big place with lots of unusual shops, rides, old cars and bands - and people dancing in the streets. It was also Joe Wood's birthday so we decided to go to a restaurant called Dennys to celebrate. After dinner I went go-carting with Joseph and Melisa, it was quite fun. Finally we went back to the middle of Old Town to meet the Leaders, it was time to go home. Derrick played a trick on me with a toy gun that gives you an electric shock! When we got home I went straight to bed.
