| 25th July | 1st August | 3rd August | 14th August | 15th August | 16th August | Tuesday August 1st 2006 After trying very hard to find a loop all week we have finally found a public library with internet access! (And America is the home of Bill Gates!) Our flight over was initially delayed at Gatwick for about one hour, then on arrival at Orlando Airport we had a further half hour delay due to thunder storms. Once we finally got through immigration, we got down to the vans to find that they were not ready! Eventually we got to our houses at about 9.30pm (2.30am UK) and then off to Walmart for some shopping. Rain, rain, rain and more rain! What had we come to!?
Most of us got over the jet lag more or less after our first nights sleep. The temperatures and humidity is playing some of us up a little though. The past few days has seen our programme slightly altered. We are still waiting to meet our American counterparts, but we have done two theme parks and some shopping. Last night we all dined, 'en masse' at the Hard Rock Café in Orlando. We have been very welcomed wherever we go.
Having spoken to our BSA (Boy Scouts of America) contact, I have been told that they are having some problems organinsing things as they are just all getting back to school and their numbers are low at the start of term. However, she has planned for us to visit two Troops this week and then we shall play things from there. It is good to report that there have been no disagreements among the Leaders so far!! Everyone, including the young people, are still all very happy and in awe of Florida.
We will try our hardest to get info onto the site a little more often. It has proved difficult as we have had to first find somewhere and then drive fifteen miles to get here! Finally, a note to all of the parents, do not stress! Your children are enjoying themselves and we will try to get them to either email you all or at least send home a postcard. Meanwhile, our first home correspondence arrived today for 'Moose'.
